“We have this hope for an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” ~ Hebrews 6:19
I met up with “Andi”, who I’ve known for 5 years, a week after Camp Inside this August to help her with looking for a job and practicing interviewing.
“Oh, I LOVED that camp when I was at Marler!”
“What do you remember about it?”
“Oh my gosh a LOT! My favorite was the water games but I still have my t-shirt and the speaker made me realize there was hope for me.”
“Really? That’s interesting because hope was our theme this year. How did it give you hope?”
“He’d been into drugs like me and gone to jail and really tanked his life. I felt like I had too after 4 years in facilities. I realized I was lucky that I did all my stuff as a juvenile and didn’t want a felony like his permanently on my record. And he turned his life around even with all he’d done as an adult…that gives me hope that I can too.”
It is great to see that Camp Inside has been impacting young people long after they’ve transitioned back into the community and given them hope. Anchoring them with caring churches and communities can make all the difference in their continuing success, especially in their spiritual growth.
Thank you for being a part of the ongoing conversation with youth just like Andi in our city and helping us share God’s story. It's our honor to be the storytellers on your behalf who meet kids right where they are and give life to their story. Thank you for providing such a fun opportunity to plant seeds of the Gospel in their lives and give them an Anchor of Hope!
Providing young people in our community with the opportunity to make an informed decision to be a follower of Jesus Christ and become part of a local church.
