Back Again

“My mom was doing meth before I was born so it is hard to say where my addiction started.”
Marie is originally from Chicago, in and out of foster homes as her mom tried to keep custody of her while battling her addiction. In her early teens, Marie started running away from foster and group homes, hanging out on the streets late at night when a sex trafficking ring got ahold of her.
“I thought it was a party. There were drugs everywhere and a friend of mine shot me up with heroin. I found out later he was paid by the leader of the ring to do that so I wouldn’t know what was happening. They kept me high most of the time.”
She was rescued this summer and has devoted her life to Christ again.
“I like learning more about Jesus. My grandma is Catholic and even though she got me started as a Christian, we really didn’t focus on Jesus. It’s like everything I read (in the New Testament) is about Him!”
It’s shocking to think of how some children in the U.S. can grow up in a type of poverty, dislocation, and relational abandonment we would normally associate with a third world country. Many have heard of Jesus but do not know who He is or how much He loves them.
Thank you for praying for Marie and so many others like her who need deep healing in body and soul. Pray Jesus will restore their hearts with His love, heal their bodies and mind of trauma and give them to a hopeful future beyond what they can imagine for themselves!
