I’m Mad at God

“The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit…” Psalm 34:18

“Justin, would you want to go to lunch at Casa Mariachi after the memorial on Tuesday?  Katy, Chris, Kaley, Natalie, Cassie, and Brad are all going along with a few parents. We just thought it would be helpful as we are trying to deal with this tragedy.

Absolutely! Count me in!  How have you been dealing with this? Are you doing ok?

No. I’m mad at God. How could a loving God take away my friend like this? How does this make sense!? I’m not in a good place.

You were in a similar place last Saturday. Stacey, I am going to continue to encourage you to ask God into these spaces of hurt and pain.  I don’t understand why this happened either, and I am hurting too. It’s ok to tell God how you feel. He can handle it!

Justin- can we continue to meet on Saturdays? It’s been really helpful for my friends and I to talk about it. We are so grateful to have a group like this. I feel like I can be honest and be myself without judgement from others.

Yes! This is what I do! It would be an honor! How does 10AM sound?

Great!

Ok, spread the word and invite anyone else who is hurting or needs to talk too, ok?

Thanks Justin!”

With a recent suicide and another untimely death of a classmate, it has been a difficult summer for our community. I’ve said this a lot of late, but despite the chaos of our world right now, I see God moving. I see it in the faces of these kids we’ve been meeting with every Saturday. Keep praying for us!

Thank you for being a part of the ongoing conversation with youth in our city and helping us share God’s story.  It's our honor to be the storytellers on your behalf who meet kids right where they are and give life to their story.

Providing young people in our community with the opportunity to make an informed decision to be a follower of Jesus Christ and become part of a local church.
