Katie’s Story

We invite you into Katie’s story:

“This last year has been really hard for me,” Katie shared through tears. “I was really depressed and spent several days in the hospital because I was seriously considering suicide.”

Katie shared these things with me while her best friends sat beside her. She explained that they all knew what she had been through, but that she had not trusted an adult enough to talk with until now.

She vulnerably continued, “You say you love me and are here for me, and I believe you. I don’t even know why, but I do.”

This special time transpired on one of our weekend trips. As leaders, these are the moments we pray for and are so honored to be part of with our students.

“I’m not really religious. I do believe in some kind of higher power, though.”

Over that weekend, Katie began to hear about God’s everlasting and unconditional love for her.

She and I now have an important, safe, and meaningful relationship. On a regular basis we meet and talk about life and Jesus. Although Katie isn’t sure exactly what she believes about God, she now has a place where she can ask questions, talk about Him, and openly share about her struggles.

Thank you for being a part of the ongoing conversation with youth in our city and helping us share God’s story.  It's our honor to be the storytellers on your behalf who meet kids right where they are and give life to their story.

Providing young people in our community with the opportunity to make an informed decision to be a follower of Jesus Christ and become part of a local church.
