Tap-out Acting

Now before you think this is about UFC – it’s not!

Have two people sit in chairs in front of the group. Give them a topic to begin acting out in front of everyone. This isn't a game of charades, so your actors can talk, talk, talk! Whenever another student from the group wants to change up how the scene is going, they yell "Freeze!" At this point, the actors stop what their doing and the student who yelled freeze may go up and "tap-out" one of the current actors and take their place on stage. Then the youth leader or student moderator shouts "Resume," and the story contiunes but now in a different direction while the opposite student-actor does his best to keep up.

This activity is a lot of fun, and gives students the space to be creative. It's also quite entertaining for the audience, especially if you have expressive students in the group.

Rules: Just make sure everyone knows to keep it clean. Have it last as long as you want. Try to keep the students rotating instead of just one always being up front.

Variance: Have the youth leader call out a new scenario every time a student switches out.
