Why a Christian College

I was a junior in high school when I decided that I wanted to attend a Christian college or university. While enjoying my small town, public high school experience I knew I wanted something different for my college years. So, I looked online and through a few Christian magazines lying around the house. They didn’t offer much but it was a starting point. A quick call and more information was on its way.
A few schools were crossed off based on location (too far from family) and a few more based on school cultures that just didn’t seem a good fit. I narrowed my list down to two schools to visit: Western Baptist University (now Corban University) in Salem, Oregon and Colorado Christian University in Lakewood, Colorado. Both great schools with friendly people and beautiful campuses. It was a tough decision.
I started school that next fall in Colorado and was immersed in a culture that helped me mature as person while also nurturing and feeding my soul as my faith grew. I met Christian people who loved God but didn’t look like what I thought Christians looked like; some even thought a little different than me.*wink*
My heart was moved and my eyes were opened to the many, many ways of building God’s Kingdom.
My years at a Christian college set me on a trajectory that has led me through a variety of ministry and occupational opportunities. And I’ve created lifelong friendships with people from college who are doing some pretty cool things like pastoring churches, managing high level accounting firms, and living in Hawaii studying sea life.
Are you thinking about attending a Christian college? The Christian College Fair of Colorado is a great place to get information and connect with schools you’re interested in (even ones that are a little farther away from home if that’s what you’re looking for). Also, both Corban University and Colorado Christian University are representing.
So check it out – the #ChristianCollegeFair of Colorado – coming to the Front Range September 26th-29th!
